Customer Reviews

The pump don't work cuz the vandals stole the handle.....5
- Dylan quote. Totally irrelevant. Anyway, I wanted a QUALITY Digital Caliper. I must have followed 100 links in Searches and at least 90 of them turned out to be variations on the generic caliper offered by Ha_bor Fre_ght. I quickly decided that those weren't for me.

Thank God I found the "True Power 6"(150mm) Stainless Steel Digital Vernier Caliper!" Sure, I paid a few bucks more for it but IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! Here's what I got: Sturdy, lined case. Detailed instructions, in English. (not "Chinglish!") Extra battery. And the Caliper itself is Solid and it is Smooth! Feature-rich, yet operation is remarkably intuitive!

I strongly recommend this Caliper to EVERYONE who wants a quality tool - you won't want to put this one back into its case!

A good value-priced caliper5
The TruPower caliper seems sturdier than the Chineese (Harbor Freight) calipers every other cheap and mid-range caliper seems to resemble.

When I measured a 1/2" pin-guage the reading came right-in at 500 thousands. When I close and "zero" it, it still reads Zero after several repeanted openings and closings.

The fractions option is pretty handy, and the automatic shut-down is a feature I wanted.

At $35 I'm not as attached to the TruPower as my Mitutoyo... which is probably a good thing when working around other people.

Just what you need and for a good price5
Regardless of price it's a nice caliper. It has three modes:

1. Inches
2. Fractional inches
3. Metric

I really like that it measures in both metric and SAE but the fractional is a great feature that simplifies. Sure it's easy to pick up a decimal to fractional table or guestimate to the nearest common fractions i.e. 0.125 = 1/8" but it's much nicer to just press the mode button and see the reading in whatever measurement you want.

- It has an auto power save mode that turns the unit off if not used for 4 minutes.
- If you move the slide faster than 60 inches per second then it will miss it's reading but I can't think of a time when you would ever move the caliper that fast in real use. If you are really in a hurry then you might be moving the caliper at 2 inches per second.
- There's an optional feature to hook up a special printer via a special cable.

There are just enough buttons and not to many. There are no weird button combinations to get at a feature. It's really simple. On/off, mm/inch/fractional, and zero. That's it. Nice and easy.

I was originally looking for a metric analog dial caliper since I already have one that's in SAE but thought I would give this a shot. I prefer things that don't need batteries but after using this I'd say it's well worth it for the convenience and ease of use.

I don't have anything to complain about. It's a nice caliper and in my opinion a great value for $35 shipped.
