Customer Reviews
Glue works, Gun doesn't
Well over a year ago, I purchased the HiPurformer kit that is overpriced at $100. At the cost of the glue tubes, they should give you the gun. Anyway, I needed some kind of super glue and this seemed like it was it. The glue does work and is excellent for trim where you really can't screw or nail or air nail. Problem is, the gun no longer feeds. I read reviews about this before I bought this kit - the feed mechanism breaks and then the whole thing is useless. The guy at the Woodcraft store where I bought my kit said that two had been returned for this problem. Nevertheless, I bought the kit and it worked well and I didn't force the plunger. A year later, it doesn't feed. The plunger works okay, nothing looks broken, but the glue doesn't flow no matter how long I let it heat up. I sent an email to the company for help but they didn't reply. So, in reality, it cost me about $25 per tube rather than the 6 to $8 they charge for it. Good idea, poor execution. Go for it if you don't mind throwing the whole thing away after you use it.
side by side comparison
i had to get a plastic curtain hung right away. i used this to attach several hundred feet of velcro stripping. it was ready for immediate use! i could attach and re-attach the velcro without worry. it never pulled off! when i ran out i used another brand epoxy glue which took until the next day to set. the gun heats up quickly. i have stored and re-used a tube without any problems. good to have available for rush jobs, etc. but not for every day. cost is the limiting factor, not performance.
...Wow...
I am a trim carpenter and I was leery about using this product for professional applications, but was proved wrong instantly. I needed to twist hand painted crown to match the sheetrock ceiling and keep the same reveal on the cabinets..with no nails. I used this product and was amazed. If you are familiar with a caulk gun, you will have no trouble using this product. I was worried about the reviews concerning the glue going bad after two weeks, but I used it up on many things that I wanted to use no mechanical fastsners on. I am sold, possibly not for the little job if the compliants about the life of open glue are true, but worth every penny to me. I had to break one joint with a hammer and ended up splitting the wood...after it set up for twenty minutes. This stuff is for real.
